SECLOUS wins the NATO Innovation Challenge 2022 – a significant award in the defense sector
SECLOUS, together with BWI innoX, won first place in the NATO Innovation Challenge – Fall 2022. The award was presented on October 12, 2022, recognizing digital innovations in the defense sector.
Background and Significance of the Challenge
The NATO Innovation Challenge is hosted by the Allied Command Transformation’s Innovation Hub in partnership with the NATO Communication and Information Agency (NCI Agency) and rotating national partners. The goal is to find creative solutions for current security policy challenges and, in particular, to involve non-traditional innovators such as startups and research institutions.
In autumn 2022, the focus was on resilience and secure data management strategies in crisis situations.
From a large number of applications from 19 nations, 10 finalists were nominated to present their solutions in a pitch in Bucharest.
The award ceremony took place in Mons (Belgium) as part of the NATO EDGE conference, before a large international expert audience.

Our Technology Convinces NATO Jury
The jury was convinced that Non-Visible-Data (NVD) technology is an outstanding solution for ensuring controlled, encrypted information exchange between military domains.
With NVD, protection is integrated directly into the data: data is broken down into tiny, seemingly random fragments upon creation, making it appear as meaningless data junk to attackers – effectively rendering it “invisible.”

The fact that the solution not only secures military systems but also enables the integration of civilian systems, such as Ukrainian logistics systems, within the framework of international reconstruction projects, underscores the strategic importance of the technology for NATO and its partners.
This innovation thus sets the course for secure, interoperable cooperation in crisis and reconstruction scenarios and could become the new encryption standard for the German Armed Forces and NATO partners.
